Resource Mobilisation & Business Development Consultant
Association SEMBE – Remote / Yaoundé, Cameroon
Location: Primarily Remote (Coordination with Yaoundé/Field as needed)
Contract Duration: 9 months
Level of Effort: 8–10 working days per month
Reports to: Executive Director
About SEMBE
Association Sembe is a women-led civil society organization working at the intersection of mental health, nutrition, education, climate resilience, and the empowerment of women and girls in Cameroon. We implement impactful interventions in underserved and crisis-affected regions, including the Far North and North-West.
Objective of the Assignment
The consultant will strengthen Association SEMBE’s capacity to mobilize financial and strategic resources to scale our mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programming. This involves developing robust systems, tools, and strategic partnerships to secure sustainable and diversified funding.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop an actionable Resource Mobilisation Strategy aligned with growth priorities and diversified funding streams.
- Identify and map funding opportunities to establish a structured donor pipeline and tracking system.
- Support the development of high-quality, funding-ready proposals and concept notes.
- Contribute to donor engagement efforts, including outreach and preparation for strategic meetings.
- Create a Business Development Toolkit including templates for donor briefs and tracking tools.
- Refine institutional positioning materials such as capability statements and donor pitch documents.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced university degree in International Development, Business Development, Public Health, or a related social science field.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in resource mobilisation, fundraising, and proposal writing within the NGO sector.
- Proven track record of securing funding from institutional, bilateral, and multilateral donors or foundations.
- Strong understanding of the localization agenda and challenges facing women-led organizations.
- Familiarity with the funding landscape in Cameroon and the Sahel region.
Key Competencies
- Excellent strategic thinking and proposal writing skills in English.
- Ability to translate programmatic work into compelling donor-facing language.
- High-level analytical capacity for donor positioning and stakeholder engagement.
